It seems that CouesDeer Hunting has become the deer of choice these days. Some of hunting buddies say that mule deer are the carp of big game. That is fine with me. That just leaves more mule deer for me to hunt. I have hunting muleys in Arizona my whole life. I shot my first mule deer on the Strip in 1962. It was my largest mule deer. I have been trying to get a bigger one ever since. These two deer were taken in 23. two days apart. The second deer was taken by my nephew Tom. My deer had a broken jaw and probably would have not made it through the winter. Good Hunting to everyone!

Nice Muley. rough score 218. Shot this deer on November 2, 2009 at 11:45 am in 5B.
Here is a photo of one of my friends (Joe) Coues deer. This one scored (unofficially) 109.
I shot this Coues in Mexico in January of 09. It was the second day of my hunt. I spotted this deer early in the morning chasing a doe with 3 other bucks. I did not get a good look at him until about 45 minutes later. He appeared just below me 425 yards away. When I shot he dropped on the spot. I have a good scope but no special ad-ons other than it is a variable powered Zeiss. My gun was a 300 Ultra Mag Remington. I have been very pleased with this set up and it has paid off on several hunts over the last 4 years.
My Coues scored 103 (unofficially). If had the broken point he would be about a 108. I will have him scored soon. He has a very thick rack and is a 3x4. Last years buck was a 2x2 but measured about 85. The group I go with shot some great bucks the last 2 years. Its a lot of fun
